Sera was the youngest finalist ever in the Young International Singer of the Year competition at the Llangollen International Eisteddfod,  aged 18. She graduated from the RWCMD with Distinction and there won the Dolan Evans and Aneurin Bevan Prizes. She received a scholarship for further study at the Royal Academy of Music, and distinguished herself as an award-winning musician. She received scholarships from S4C and James Pantyfedwen.  Among her many awards and prizes for singing are the John Ireland Prize, Blodwen Cosslett Soprano Prize, S4C scholarship, Maida Jones Award, Alfred Alexander Award and the Audience Prize at the London Welsh Singer of the Year competition.  Sera was also recipient of the 2010 Sickle Foundation Award. She won the Soprano prize at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2011 and was a finalist in the Blue Ribbon competition.
